What is Screen To Body Ratio in Mobile Phones and Laptops

While buying a smartphone, most of us look for the display size which is the diagonal length of the display. But many people don’t know what screen-to-body ratio is. Well, by using it you can calculate how much the display covers the front face. The screen-to-body ratio can be measured as a percentage.

What is the screen-to-body Ratio?

The screen-to-body ratio refers to the smartphone’s body percentage which is covered by the display. Bear in mind that the higher the ratio is, the larger the screen will be. And if you decide to purchase a large-screen smartphone, it is essential to pay attention to the screen-to-body ratio.

Screen-to-Body Ratio Means:

If a phone has a 100% screen-to-body ratio then the front panel is only covered by the display and there is no visible body. On the other hand, if your device has a screen-to-body ratio of 50% it means the front panel has equal screen surface and body surface.

[Note: Smartphones that have a large screen-to-body ratio have their own attraction. It looks amazing and gives it a premium look]

How to Calculate Screen-to-Body Ratio?

The formula of the screen-to-body ratio is ;  (Smartphone’s Display Area)/ (Smartphone’s Body Area)*100

Let’s understand it with an example:

If you have a smartphone of Length: 120 and Width: 50

Its display size of Length: 100 and Width: 40

The smartphone’s body area is 120*50= 6000

The area of the display is 100*40= 4000

The Screen to Body ratio is (4000/6000)*100=> 67%

So 67% of the display size will cover the front face of the smartphone.
